Description

Also known as a Hop Spider. Construction design is made out of all stainless steel and disassembles for easy storage.   Sleeves on ring are TIG welded and the legs (9" long) will accommodate up to a 22"OD pot. The legs in the picture have been cut to rest on the cut out section of the top to prevent any movement of the ring. Last leg needs to be installed through the handle to do this. Comes with one nylon strainer bag and SS clamp.

This hop spider is heavy duty and worked very well. Recommend if you do use it that you have a small weighted stainless object you can drop into the bag along with the hops. Otherwise, the boil billows the mesh bag up near the surface.

Rating Hop Spider works great

I used the hop spider last weekend to brew a 10 gallon batch of an IPA. It worked great and we didn't clog our pump like last time when we didn't bag our hops. Would recommend this product to add to their all grain set up. If you're brewing bigger than in 30 gallon kettles though, it probably won't work as the arms will be too short.

Works pretty darned well. I suppose nothing is perfect, but this did a pretty good job of allowing the hops oils to disperse but contains the solids. The only issue I had is that the mesh of the bag plugged up by the end of the boil.

Rating Perfect for IPAs

I have a large Hop Spider for my Keggle, but needed something smaller and wider for my 8-gallon pot when brewing 5-gallon batches. The bag and clamp allow me to tailor the length of the bag to keep it off the bottom and prevent scorching. I brewed an IPA with 4 oz of pellet hops and the bag retained 95% and I lost only about a pint to trub which is a huge improvement. I also discovered that at end of the boil, the bag allows me pull the metal parts outside the kettle, let the bag drape on the inside, replace the lid while chilling. This allowed the bag to fully drain while racking from the kettle. Well made and a great value.

Works well, however, the "legs" can easily fall out and into the kettle. Makes the spider a slight bit risky to use. Would be GREAT if there was a threaded nut near the ring that the end of the legs could thread into. Just a few threads to stop them from popping out. Would be 5 star if that were the case.
